IISER Aptitude Test Examination Authority is going to conduct the IISER 2020 Entrance Examination for those candidates who want to get admission in 5-year BS-MS degree programme. candidate can apply for the said examination through the IAT official Portal. The IISER admissions 2020 will be conducted in three channels JEE, KVPY and SCB.

Candidates applying for JEE or KVPY channel will be invited for direct admissions while candidates opting for SCB channel will have to appear for IISER Aptitude Test 2020 which will be a computer-based test (CBT).

The IISER Aptitude Test 2020 is also known as IAT entrance exam. The Institution will organize a national level examination, that is the IISER Aptitude Test. How to Apply?

There is given below detailed application procedure

  • Visit the official website of IISER Click Here
  • Click on the link “Apply Now
  • Click on ‘Login’ and enter this information: email Id, password, country of residence and mobile number.
  • Fill all the necessary details like personal, contact, domicile, qualification, etc.
  • Upload the scanned images of photograph, signature and index finger impression in the prescribed format.
  • Make the fee payment using online mode.
  • After the fee payment, take the printout of the confirmation page of the application form and keep it safe for further use.

Eligibility Criteria

Aspirants should check the eligibility criteria before applying for the IISER Aptitude Test. The eligibility criteria for appearing IISER Aptitude Test exam is given below.


  • The Admission Seeker should have qualified the 10+2 or equivalent exam.
  • Subjects must be Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Biology as a compulsory subject from any recognised Board for Secondary Education.
  • Candidates who seeking admission to both these BS programmes Mathematics subjects at 10+2 level is mandatory. IISER Bhopal offers four year BS programmes in Economics and Engineering Sciences.

Candidates will be admitted to IISER Aptitude Test only through these channels.

  • Kishore Vaigyanik Protsahan Yojana (KVPY) channel
  • Joint Entrance Examination (JEE-Advanced) of the Indian Institutes of Technology
  • State and Central Boards Channel (SCB)

Eligibility criteria for the above mention Channels are mentioned below:-

Admission ChannelEligibility Criteria
KVPY ChannelApplicants must have a valid KVPY fellowship commencing from 2020-21 academic session are eligible to apply for admissions. Additional cut-off criteria for marks obtained in 10+2 board examination is also applicable.
JEE Advanced ChannelApplicants in General category must secure a rank within 10000 in the Common Rank List (CRL) of JEE Advanced 2020 are eligible to apply. For candidates belonging to the reserved category (OBC-NC, SC, ST, PD), their category rank should be within 10000. Additional cut-off criteria for marks obtained in 10+2 board examination is also applicable.
SCB Channel10+2 level with science stream in 2019 or 2020 are eligible to apply for admissions and appear for IAT 2020.
However, they will be considered for admissions to the degree programmes only if they obtain the cut-off marks specified for their board.
Those candidates applying through SCB channel will have to appear in the IISER Aptitude Test (IAT).


All candidates of Indian national and candidates belonging to Person of Indian Origin (PIO) or Overseas Citizenship of India (OCI) are eligible to apply for IISER Aptitude Test.

Age Limit

There is no age limit for IISER Aptitude Test 2020.

According to official guidance, Each Aspirant will be able to attempt the IISER Aptitude Test only 2 times in his/her lifetime.

Admit Card

Those Admission seekers who have registered successfully will be able to download the admit card of IAT 2020 in online mode from 7th September 2020. The Admit Card can be downloaded by entering the Application Form Number. The print-out copy of the e-Admit Card available on the website will be treated as valid Admit Card for IAT 2020. Without having admitted card, no candidate will be allowed to enter in the examination hall. Candidates must bring a valid admit card along with the print copy of filled application form in the examination hall.

Answer key

The important answer key of IAT 2020 will on the official portal of IISER. IISER Aptitude Test. The answer keys will be used to estimate the secured marks by every examiner and know their performance of the examination. Candidates can cross-check the answers written during the examination and ascertaining the possible marks that they will secure in IISER Aptitude Test and the official answer key.


According to official instructions, the declaration of IISER Aptitude Test, and will be available in the form of merit list. The result will be on the website through online mode. Candidates can check their result by entering their email id and password. The council board will not communicate the result to any individual aspirants.


For qualify the IISER Aptitude Test entrance examination, Candidate needs to qualify the cutoff marks. The cutoff list will be released by the IISER Aptitude test Examination authority. It will be based on a number of students appeared in the exam, difficulty level and availability of seats. Candidates in General category securing a rank within 10000 in the Common Rank List (CRL) of JEE Advanced 2020 are eligible to apply. and aspirants who belong to the reserved category (OBCNC, SC, ST, PD), their category rank should be within 10000 for JEE Streams. Foreign students can apply only through the JEE channel. The top 10000 rank holders (including the foreigners) in the CRL of IIT JEE (Advanced) will be eligible for admission to the BS/BS-MS programme of IISER.

IISER Aptitude Test Counselling Process

Step-1: Filling of application form: Those Candidates whose names appear in the merit list of IISER Aptitude Test those candidates will have to fill the application form to become eligible to participate in IISER Aptitude Test Counselling 2020. If any candidates are applying through different channels then they will have to fill the separate application form for each of them.

Step-2: Choice Filling & Locking: Fill and lock the choices in order of the preference of colleges and programmes. Based on the choices filled seat allotment will be done.

Step-3: Seat Allotment: The seat allotment process Based on the availability of seats, merit and preference entered, candidates, will be allotted seats.

Step-4: Seat Allocation Fee Payment: To confirm the seat, candidates will have to pay the fees through Net Banking or e-Challan.

Step-5: Verification of Documents: After that, the aspirants will have to go through the document verification process at the help centres.

Step-6: Reporting at Counselling Venue:- applicants are required to be present at the venue of the counselling where they will be allotted seats according to their rank and the availability of the seat in the institute.

Q. What are the channels available for admission to IISERs?

A. There are three channels available for admission into IISERs:
KVPY (Kishore Vaigyanik Protsahan Yojana)
IIT-JEE (Advanced)
SCB (State and Central Boards).

Q. Who awards the BS-MS degree?

A. Each IISER is an autonomous institution. Therefore, the degree award by individual IISERs.

Q. I am an OCI/PIO cardholder. Should I apply as a foreign candidate?

A. No. You should apply through our regular application portal. International students are those candidates who are NOT citizens of India by birth or naturalized and do not belong to PIO/OCI category, and whose parents are not citizens of India and do not come under PIO/OCI category at the time of applying.

Q. Are there seats for foreign candidates other than PIO/OCI cardholders?

A. Yes. Foreign candidates can apply only through the JEE-Advanced channel. The top 10000 rank holders (including the foreigners) in the CRL of IIT JEE (Advanced) become eligible for admission to the BS/BS-MS programme of IISERs. Application of a foreign candidate through any channel other than JEE-Advanced will reject.

Q. Do I need to apply separately for each channel?

A. Yes. Applicants are required first to do the registration on the application portal. Then, this registration account could use to Fill the application form(s) of any of the three channels. Each channel requires a separate online application and payment of application fee. The applicant must check the eligibility criteria for each channel through which they wish to apply.

Q. Do I have to write the IISER aptitude test?

A. Yes, only if you are applying through the SCB channel.

Q. What will be the mode of the exam?

A. The mode of IISER 2020 is a computer-based (online).

Q. In which language will test conduct?

A. The IISER 2020 question paper will be available in Hindi & English languages. Candidates will be able to choose as per their preference.

Q. What is the Seat Acceptance Fee (SAF)?

A. If you have allotted to one of the IISERs, you need to pay the Seat Acceptance Fee (within the due date) through the counselling portal to accept the offer and confirm that you intend to join one of the IISERs. The Seat Acceptance Fee amounts to Rs. 35,000/- (Rs.25000/- + Rs. 10000/- (Non refundable administrative fee)) for General/EWS/OBC-NCL categories and Rs.22500 (Rs.12,500/- + Rs. 10000/- (Non refundable administrative fee)) for SC/ST/PwD/KM categories. Failure to deposit the SAF within the stipulated time will result in the cancellation of the offer. Furthermore, you will not consider in any subsequent rounds of seat allotment during admission 2020. Once you register in your allotted IISER, this amount will adjust against your first-semester fee.

A. Yes, you will be eligible to apply for IISER 2020.
