Indian Institute of Technology Bhilai, popularly known as IIT Bhilai is one of the IIT institutes located in the Bhilai, Chhattisgarh. It is one of the six new IITs established by the Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of India.

Presently, IIT Bhilai is functioning from its transit campus at Government Engineering College (GEC) Raipur. The transit campus of IIT Bhilai situated on Old Dhamtari Road in Raipur has been successfully operational since 2016.

To get admission in IIT Bhilai, one needs to clear the Joint entrance examination (JEE Main). B. Tech admissions into CSE and ECE programs are done through JoSAA. Admission in PG level courses will be based on the GATE Entrance Exam

B.TechAdmission in B.tech programme candidates has to clear the Joint entrance examination (JEE Main).
P.h.DAdmission For P.h.D programme is based on the entrance test, the test is conducted by IIT (Institute of Information Technology), which is followed by the interview.
M.ScAdmission For M.Sc programme is based on the entrance test, IIT Jam followed by counselling (CCMN).
M.TechAdmission For M.Tech programme is Merit-Based GATE.

Eligibility Criteria

Below we have mentioned the IIT Bhilai Eligibility Criteria for UG and PG Courses.

Qualification
  • Candidate must have pass 10+2 or equivalent qualification from a recognized Board, or be in the top 20 percentile in the 12th class examination conducted by the respective Boards.
  • For SC/ST candidates the qualifying marks would be 65% in the 12th class examination.
Basic of Selection
  • The Candidate should be an Indian National.
  • The students can get admission in B. tech by appearing in JEE Mains entrance exam which will be conducted by NTA this year onwards and qualifying examination from a recognized university or board.
Age
  • Minimum Age: 17 years or above
  • Maximum Age:  There is no upper age limit.

Scholarship

IIT Bhilai offers various categories of scholarships to both its undergraduate and postgraduate students. The students of IIT Bhilai are highly encouraged to apply for these scholarships. However, they should carefully read the terms and conditions of each scholarship to ensure their eligibility before applying.

Merit-cum-Means Scholarship

  • Available only to undergraduate students in UR and OBC categories.
  • Up to a maximum of 25% of the students are proposed for grant of awards.
  • The other economically weak students (whose family income is between Rs. 1 lakh to Rs. 5 lakh per annum) who avail 2/3rd remission of the tuition fee will be eligible for 1/3rd reimbursement of tuition fee per semester + pocket money of Rs. 1000/- per month.
  • Parental income not to exceed Rs. 5 Lakhs for UR Students and Rs. 6 Lakhs for OBC Students
  • Minimum CGPA of 6.0 must be maintained to avail the benefits of the scholarship

Institute SC/ST Scholarship

  • All undergraduate students in SC and ST categories are included.
  • Free messing and boarding (to the extent collected) and pocket money of Rs. 250/- p.m. is given.
  • Parental income not to exceed Rs. 4.5 Lakhs per annum.
  • Parental income not to exceed Rs. 5 Lakhs for UR Students and Rs. 6 Lakhs for OBC Students
  • CGPA of 7.0 is required.

Institute Free Studentship Scholarship

  • 10% of the undergraduate students are proposed for grant of Free Studentship.
    Parental income not to exceed Rs. 5 Lakhs per annum for UR Students and Rs. 6 Lakhs per annum for OBC Students.
  • The other economically backward students (whose family income is between Rs. 1 lakh to Rs. 5 lakh per annum) who avail 2/3rd remission of the tuition fee will be eligible for 1/3rd reimbursement of tuition fee per semester.
  • CGPA of 6.0 is required.

Institute Fellowship to Postgraduate Students

  • Non-sponsored M.Tech. Students are paid fellowship for a maximum of 21 months by the institute provided they have a valid GATE score.
  • PhD Students who are offered a fellowship by the institute are paid fellowship for 3 years and likely to continue for another year with a positive recommendation from the department. The students shall not be on Institute Fellowship in a semester if they are not resident in the campus in that semester. All students who are offered Institute Fellowship by the institute are expected to devote 8 hours per week towards academic and administrative work (other than the research and course-work) assigned to them.

Placement

Indian Institute of Technology Bhilai is one of the newly IIT Institute was founded in the year 2016. The training and placement program currently includes the summer internship program of 6-8 weeks.
