Indian Institute of Technology Tirupati (IIT Tirupati) is one of the new build IIT institutes located in Tirupati, Andhra Pradesh. It was founded in the year 2015 under the Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of India.
IIT Tirupati started functioning with the support of its mentoring institute, IIT Madras from the academic year of 2015-to 16. The institute flagged its beginning with the following 4 departments Civil Engineering, Computer Science & Engineering, Electrical Engineering, and Mechanical Engineering.

IIT-Tirupati was initially functioned out of the campus of Chadalawada Group of Institutes in Tirupati. The hostel facility for boys and girls has been arranged at Transit Campus(30 acres), Yerpedu, which is to be coming up as the permanent campus. The land acquisition(531 acres) for the permanent campus is already completed and transit campus has been already constructed which consists of the Classroom Complex, Computer Lab, Engineering Workshops for all trades, Library, Play Ground, Indoor stadium and health center. Whereas a few Labs are still being functioned from the temporary campus.
