JEE Main Exam day Guideline 2020: The JEE Main exam is conducted by the National Testing Agency on July 18 to 23, 2020 for April Session (New Date Announced). JEE Main 2020 exam paper will be conducted as an online or computer-based test (CBT) mode.

However, the drawing section of Paper 2 (B.Arch) will be done through paper pen and paper-based test or offline mode. The Admit Card of JEE Main 2020 for April session will be released in online mode on July 3, 2020.

Quick Facts about JEE Main 2020

JEE is a two-tier examination (Main & Advanced) Conducted by CBSE Board to select candidates for admissions in various B.Tech/B.Arch programs offered by NITs, IIITs, IITs and other premier engineering institutions in India.

Those who score great in JEE Main are eligible to apply for various NITs and IIIT, whereas one needs to Clear JEE Advanced to get admission in several IITs spread across the nation.

The JEE Main 2020 online application form for the First Session(January Session) will be started from 3 September 2019 and second session(April Session) will be started from 7th February 2020. Check more details below.

Guidelines for Applicants


Candidates must bring the following documents on the day of examination at the test centre. Candidates who will not bring these will not be allowed to sit in the examination.

  • Print copy of JEE Main Admit Card downloaded from NTA’s website.
  • One passport size photograph (same as uploaded on the Online Application Form) should be taken for pasting on the specific space in the attendance sheet at Centre during the examination.
  • Any one of the authorized photo IDs (must be original, valid and non-expired) – PAN card/ Driving License/ Voter ID/ Passport/ Aadhaar Card (With photograph)/E-Aadhaar with photograph/ Ration Card with photograph/ 12th Class Board Admit Card with photograph/ Bank Passbook with Photograph.
  • PwD certificate issued by the authorized medical officer, if claiming the relaxation under PwD category
    or
  • PwD Certificate regarding physical limitation in an examination to write as per Appendix-I given in Information Bulletin, if claiming the relaxation under PwD category.
    or
  • Letter of Undertaking for using Own Scribe as per Appendix-II given in Information Bulletin, if claiming the relaxation under PwD category.

The candidates shall report at the Examination Centre two hours before the commencement of the examination so as to complete the frisking and registration formalities well before the time. The registration desk will be closed 30 minutes prior to the examination

Candidates shall not be permitted to enter in the Examination Hall/Room after 9:00 a.m. in the first shift and after 2:00 p.m. in the second shift. The candidates are advised to read the instructions on the admit card carefully and follow them during the conduct of the examination.

The candidate must show, on-demand, the Admit Card downloaded/printed from the NTA’s website and any of the authorized photo IDs for entry in the examination room/hall. A candidate who does not possess the valid Admit Card and authorized photo IDs shall not be permitted for the examination under any circumstances by the Centre Superintendent.

A seat indicating roll number will be allocated to each candidate. Candidates should find and sit on their allocated seat only. Any candidate found to have changed room/hall or the seat on his/her own other than allotted, his/her candidature shall be cancelled and no plea would be accepted for it.

No candidate, without the special permission of the Centre Superintendent or the Invigilator concerned, will leave his/her seat or Examination Room/Hall until the full duration of the paper is over. Candidates must follow the instructions strictly as instructed by the Centre Superintendent/Invigilators. Candidates should not leave the room/hall without handing over their rough sheets to the invigilator on duty in the Room/Hall.

For those who are unable to appear on the scheduled date of tests for any reason, the NTA shall not be responsible for conduct of re-test, under any circumstances.

Code of conduct

Candidates shall maintain perfect silence and attend to their Question Paper only. Any conversation or gesture or disturbance in the Examination Room/Hall shall be deemed as misbehaviour. If a candidate is found using unfair means or impersonating, his/her candidature shall be cancelled and he/she will be liable to be debarred for taking examination either permanently or for a specified period according to the nature of the offence.

Candidates are not allowed to carry any textual material, Calculators, Docu Pen, Slide Rules, Log Tables, and Electronic Watches with facilities of calculator, printed or written material, and bits of papers, mobile phone, pager or any other device, except the Admit Card and ID proof inside the Examination Room/Hall. If any candidate is in possession of any of the above item, his/her candidature will be treated as unfair means and his/her current examination will be cancelled & he/she will also be debarred for future examination(s) & the equipment will be
seized.

No candidate should adopt any unfair means, or indulge in any unfair examination practices. If at any stage, it is found that the candidate has submitted multiple Applications and /or appeared in more than one date/shift, then the candidature will be cancelled and legal action will be taken including debarring in all future examinations conducted by NTA.

Demonstrating foul play practices among fellow examinees and also carrying any prohibited material in paper or electronically inside or outside the examination centre will be treated as unfair means and his/her candidature will be cancelled and legal action will be taken including debarring the candidate from all future examinations conducted by NTA.

The Candidates, especially those who are carrying the barred items, including the metallic objects such as Kara and Kirpan etc., should report their respective Examination Centers one and half hour before the gate closing time, for ensuring timely checking/frisking and entry to the Examination Hall.

If upon screening at the Examination Centre, it is discovered that any candidate is actually carrying, within the ‘Kara’ and ‘Kirpan’, a suspect device, he/she may be asked not to take it in the Examination Hall (as directed by the Hon’ble Delhi High Court vide its Order dated 03.05.2018). The decision of NTA on unfair means will be final and no correspondence will be entertained in this regard.

Do’s

1. Before the examination starts, reach the examination hall.

2. carry Print copy of JEE Main Admit Card downloaded from NTA’s website.

3. Check the computer system allotted to you – if it is in working condition.

4. Ensure that all the details on the attendance sheet are correct and signatures are done at the prescribed place/column.

5. Do produce your admit card whenever demanded by the invigilator.

6. Do follow the signals given by the invigilator at the beginning of the examination, at half-time and before the closing of the exam.

7. Carry the copy of PwD certificate in the prescribed format (if applicable)

8. Bring your own geometry box set, pencils, erasers and colour pencils or crayons for JEE Main Paper 2.

9. Do check the JEE mains website or updates before you go to your examination centre

Don’t

1. Candidates are not allowed to carry any textual material, Calculators, Docu Pen, Slide Rules, Log Tables, and Electronic Watches with facilities of calculator, printed or written material, and bits of papers, mobile phone, pager or any other device.

2. Do not rush while going through the exam instructions. Read them carefully.

3. Don’t carry any prohibited items to the exam hall.

4. Don’t waste time on single questions you don’t know; also, don’t spend too much time on a single question.

5. Do not solve any single question in a hurry.

6. Don’t leave the exam hall even if you have completed the exam. Wait till the exam over.

7. Do not solve your problems in mind, always write it down. It increases retaining capacity.

8. Don’t wear uncomfortable clothes during exams to avoid unnecessary tensions.

9. Don’t get anxious, while solving questions. If you are unable to solve a particular question. move on to the next one; don’t waste time & energy on one question.
