    National Institute of Fashion Technology popularly known as NIFT is the apex institute for fashion technology in India. The institution was set up in the year 1986 under the guidance of Ministry of Textiles, Government of India. Now the institution runs under a Statutory Institute Governed by the NIFT Act 2006. The authority will conduct NIFT Entrance exam 2018 Admission test for the admission of students in fashion technology and Bachelor in Design programs offered by the 16 campuses of NIFT spread all across the country.     NIFT 2018 Exam Pattern (Written)


    The very first stage of your dream job is to score great in the written examination. Here aspirants must keep in mind that the written examination will be offline in nature and will consist of the following parameters.

    Exam Pattern For B.Des Courses:

    Exam Pattern For B.F.Tech, MFM & M.F.Tech Courses

    NIFT 2018 Exam Basic Guidelines

    • Exam Mode: Offline mode (PBT).
    • Exam duration: The duration of GAT written test will be 2 hours (for B.Des & M.Des) and 3 hours (for B.F.Tech, MFM & M.F.Tech).
    • Number of Questions: Total 100 questions will be asked in GAT for B.Des and 120 questions will be asked for M.Des. 150 questions will be asked in B.F.Tech, MFM & M.F.Tech.
    • Language: The paper medium will be English only.
    • Papers: For B.Des and M.Des, two written exams will be conducted i.e. GAT & CAT whereas for B.F.Tech, MFM & M.F.Tech only GAT will be conducted.
    • Negative Marking: There will be no negative marking.

    Situation Test


    After the successful completion of the offline written exam, the board will declare the qualified candidates for the next round of selection. Only those candidate who will successfully clear the cut-off score mentioned by the board will be allowed for the Group discussion or Situation Test. Shortlisted candidates for B.Des from the written entrance examination are required to take a Situation Test which is a hands-on test to evaluate the candidate’s skills for material handling and innovative ability on a given situation with a given set of materials. Since the medium of
    instruction in NIFT is English, the write-up will be in English. No marks will be given for write-up in any other language.

     GROUP DISCUSSIONS


    Shortlisted candidates for Masters Programs from the written entrance examination are required to undergo Case Study based Group Discussions (GD) and Personal Interview (PI). GD would comprise approximately 15 to 20 minutes of discussion on a case study assigned, on which a panel of experts will assess the candidates on various parameters including:

    • Conceptual clarity
    • Knowledge of the topic assigned
    • Contribution made to the topic
    • Interpersonal skills
    • Ability to generate new ideas
    • Problem-solving approach
    • Leadership qualities
    • Effective communication

    PERSONAL INTERVIEW


    Candidates shall be evaluated on the various parameters as listed below by a panel, in the Personal Interview:

    • Career orientation
    • Aptness for the course
    • Overall personal achievements in academics and co-curricular activities
    • Communication
    • General awareness and aptitude, creative and lateral thinking

    As no separate training is required for the above, NIFT does not recommend or endorse any coaching classes.

    NIFT 2018 COUNSELLING


    The details of counselling viz. the mode, dates and procedure will be available on the website in the month of May / June 2018. Candidates are advised to regularly check the NIFT website for further information. The following documents along with the photocopies shall be required for Admission after qualifying the entrance examination. The original certificates, except the medical certificate, will be returned to the candidate after verification.

    • Original certificates of qualifying examination i.e. 12th class/degree (marks Sheet and Certificate). In case of admission to PG courses, the candidates will also be required to bring the original certificate (Mark Sheet and Certificate) of the qualifying degree examination. In case the candidate has appeared in final semester/ final year (as applicable) then he/she will have to bring the original mark sheet of all the previous semester/years.
    • In case the candidate has appeared for qualifying exam/compartment (of final year/semester) and the result is due, the date sheet /admit card for examination has to be brought.
    •  Bank Draft(s) of requisite fee in favour of “NIFT HO” has to be bought. The name of the candidate, date of counselling, phone/ mobile no., the name of the programme, Category, Rank and Roll Number is to be mentioned at the back of Bank Draft(s).
    • Proof of date of birth (Secondary School Mark Sheet & Certificate) (Original and Photocopy).
    • SC/ST/OBC – Non-Creamy/PWD (supported with requisite Certificate). For State Domicile seats the status of domicile will be decided by the address of school/college (qualifying degree) last attended, whichever applicable.
    • The basis of funding of the tuition fee/ certificate of the parent’s income e.g Income Tax Return of 2017-18, Salary Certificate of March’2018 etc.
    • Certificate of Medical Fitness to be signed by a Registered Medical Practitioner in the prescribed format in original.
    • Affidavit on non-judicial stamp paper of Rs.10/- for seeking provisional admission only in case, the result of qualifying examination is yet to be declared.
    • An undertaking regarding Anti-Ragging
    •  An undertaking regarding refund of fee
