NEET UG, PG Counselling 2021 will Start Soon; Supreme Court Give Permission

NEET UG, PG Counselling 2021: Supreme Court allowed to start the counselling of UG & PG students with 27% OBC Quota and 10% EWS Quota which will be a final decision on the third week of March 2022. The Supreme Court said that the NEET UG & PG courses counselling could begin. Earlier the counselling was delayed because of the plea filed in the apex court regarding the changes in the reservation criteria of the EWS quota in the All India Quota. Meanwhile, Resident doctors came on the roads to protest against the delay of counselling sessions under the banner of the “Federation of resident doctor’s association (FORDA) in Delhi and the part of the region.

The candidates were waiting from 25th October; the Medical counselling committee postponed the NEET PG counselling due to the pending case in the Supreme Court of India. Although the date of counselling is yet to be announced, students can check out further information regarding the date of the counselling from the official website, neet.nic.in

In this matter, the petitioner had confronted the 29 July notification of the Medical Counselling committee providing 27% of OBC and 10%of EWS quota in the NEET UG &PG All India Quota.

The circumstances were handled by the unique bench led by Justice DY Chandrachud and Justice AS Bopanna, who resolved the issue by providing the 27% OBC quota and 10% EWS quota, which is yet to be finalised on the third week of March 2022.

Due to the protest, where a vast number of doctor’s from the hospital came forward, the apex court came to their decision. For 2021-2022, families whose income is less than 8 lakh per year come under the EWS category and are eligible to participate in the NEET UG & PG.

Head of career Counselling at Allen Career Institute, Kota, Parijat Mishra, said, “The Supreme court’s decision is a great decision and a well-thought solution. But, the concern is about the general category seats because of the EWS and OBC seats; general category seats will not suffer.

Many premier institutes have introduced supernumerary seats to increase the seats and introduce reservations. Medical colleges will have to follow suit.”
