NMC asks medical colleges to mandatorily register and get AISHE code

The National Medical Commission (NMC) has invited all medical colleges and institutions to register and get the All India Survey Higher Education (AISHE) code. The Commission asked institutions to provide compliance regarding this at the most earlier. Medical colleges can apply on the official website of AISHE – aishe.gov.in.

“The list of institutions registered in the AISHE is used widely by central ministries and state governments for checking the genuineness of student applications in different schemes. Wide use of this is done in the National Scholarships Portal, where online application and processing of scholarships of different ministries are made, after which scholarships are sent through DBT mode to the students after proper online verification, de-duplication etc.,” said NMC in official notification.

The Department of Higher Education launched AISHE in 2011 under the Central Sector Scheme of Higher Education Statistics and Public Information Systems (HESPIS). AISHE is a web-based annual survey run through a dedicated web portal – aishe.gov.in to create a database of the educational institutions providing higher education in India. The coverage of AISHE includes all tertiary-level educational institutions, including those engaged in imparting medical and nursing education.

All recognized institutions apply online for registering in AISHE through this dedicated portal, after which they provide regular data annually, added to NMC’s notification.
