Indian Institute of Information Technology Allahabad is one of the IIIT institutes located in Allahabad, Uttar Pradesh. It is also known as IIT Allahabad and it was established in 1999. IIIT Allahabad is a joint venture of the Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of India with Industries in the Public-Private Partnership model. The first director of the institute was M.D. Tiwari, from 1999 to 2013. G.C. Nandi served as a director in charge for the first four months of 2014 until Somenath Biswas took over the directorship and served from May 2014 to July 2016.
IIIT Allahabad was ranked 90 among the Top Engineering colleges in India by the National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF). IIIT Allahabad is one of the nineteen Indian Institutes of Information Technology listed by the Ministry of Human Resource Development. To get admission to IIIT Allahabad, one needs to clear the Joint entrance examination (JEE Main). B. Tech admissions into CSE and ECE programs are done through JoSAA. Admission in PG level courses will be based on the GATE Entrance Exam

| PhD | A screening committee is formed by each department with HOD to screen the applicants for PhD admissions at IIIT Allahabad, and candidates must appear for the national-level written test organised and conducted by the IIIT Allahabad. Candidates must obtain at least 40% marks in the written test to be eligible for the interview round. Candidates who will qualify for the written test shall be notified to attend the interview. The interview will be taken by the interview committee, and this committee will be responsible for submitting the provisional list of candidates recommended for PhD admissions at IIIT Allahabad. |
