National Institute of Technology Manipur is the apex institution of engineering and higher studies in the northeastern state of Manipur. It is also known as NIT Manipur and it was established in the year 2010. The college is fully funded by the government of India and was established as a center of excellence in technical education to combat the growing need for technological professionals in India as well as in the World. The institute is one among the thirty-one NITs in India established as Institutions of National Importance with funding support from the Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of India.
NIT Manipur started its first session with the three branches of Engineering-Electrical & Electronics Engineering, Electronics & Communication Engineering and Computer Science & Engineering but today from the Academic year 2013-14 two more branches in B.Tech courses are inducted viz Civil Engineering and Mechanical Engineering.

| B.Tech | Admission to Undergraduate Engineering Program for the candidates from India at NITs, IIITs, and other Centrally Funded Technical Institutions (CFTI) shall include the performance in the class 12/other Qualifying Examination and in the Joint Entrance Examination, JEE (Main). |
| M.Tech | All regular category candidates must possess a score of Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE). |
| PhD | Candidates whose selection is approved by the Director will be admitted to the PhD programme by paying the prescribed fees. The candidate should also pay fees every semester as prescribed by the institute failing which registration will be cancelled. Ordinarily, a candidate is not eligible for re-registration for PhD after the cancellation of his/her earlier registration for any reason. However, depending on the merits and considering any special circumstance of the individual case, a candidate may be considered for re-registration after Director’s approval. |
