The discovery of the fake B.P.Ed. degree case at JS University, located in Shikohabad, has prompted the Higher Education Department to expand its investigation into other educational institutions managed by Dr. Sukesh Yadav. Among these, Agra’s Agravan Heritage University, which received recognition from the BJP government two years ago, is also under scrutiny.
Higher Education Minister Yogendra Upadhyay stated that Dr. Sukesh Yadav, the Chancellor of JS University, is a known associate of the SP chief. Following revelations by the Rajasthan Police, educational institutions linked to Dr. Sukesh Yadav have come under close examination. The department has initiated action to revoke JS University’s recognition and issued a formal notice regarding this matter.
The Economic Offenses Wing (EOW) of the state is already investigating Dr. Sukesh Yadav. Meanwhile, Rajasthan Police uncovered the issuance of fake B.P.Ed. degrees by the university, leading to the arrest of Dr. Sukesh and the Registrar. Both were subsequently jailed. Minister Upadhyay noted that JS University received its recognition during the SP regime. Additionally, there are suspicions of fake degrees being issued by Agravan Heritage University, established in 2023. If irregularities are confirmed, its recognition will also be revoked.
Background on the Case
Rajasthan Police arrested Dr Sukesh Yadav and the Registrar after discovering fake B.P.Ed. degrees linked to the Rajasthan Physical Education Teacher Recruitment Examination-2022. Out of 107 candidates who claimed to be pass outs from JS University, the institution only had recognition for 100 seats in the B.P.Ed. program.
Land Investigation Underway
A team led by two SDMs, along with Revenue Department officials, conducted a survey of JS University’s land, including its administrative building. Using maps, the team measured the entire campus and engaged with local villagers to verify the land’s compliance with regulations. Sources indicate that the investigation has raised concerns regarding the use of Scheduled Caste land for the university’s construction.
Accountant Under Investigation
Ashok Yadav, an accountant posted in Tehsil Shikohabad and previously associated with JS University, has come under scrutiny. The investigation committee is reviewing his records, and any evidence of wrongdoing will lead to further action.
Notice Issued for Response
In connection with the fake degree case, Shikohabad police served a notice to JS University on Wednesday, seeking detailed information from the Agriculture Department. The university has been instructed to provide a certified response within two days, detailing the department’s recognition, seat allotment, issued mark sheets, and student registration records. Failure to comply will result in additional legal actions.
The notice, issued under the directives of senior officials, was delivered to a professor in the administrative department and also pasted outside the university premises. Shikohabad CO Praveen Kumar Tiwari confirmed that the department has until 5 PM on March 21 to respond.
