The Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) has delayed the NEET UG 2025 counselling, which was earlier scheduled to begin today, July 1. This postponement follows a directive from the Madhya Pradesh High Court in Indore, ordering the National Testing Agency (NTA) to conduct a re-exam for candidates who faced disruptions at exam centres in Indore and Ujjain due to a power outage.
Justice Subodh Abhyankar, presiding over the case, stated that the affected students suffered unfair disadvantage despite no fault of their own. The court further directed that the counselling process must wait for the outcome of the re-test and that the petitioners’ ranks in the re-exam will be considered for admissions.

This decision affects over 12.36 lakh candidates who have qualified NEET UG 2025 and are seeking admission to MBBS, BDS, and allied health science courses across medical and dental colleges in India.
The official order read, “Since the tentative counselling date is 01.07.2025, it is directed that the counselling shall be subject to the final result of the petitioner/s in the re-test.”
A new counselling schedule is expected to be released once the re-test is completed and results are declared.
