New Delhi: The Madhya Pradesh High Court has modified its earlier order that had stayed the declaration of NEET-UG 2025 results nationwide. The court has now allowed the National Testing Agency (NTA) to release the results for all centres except the 11 in Indore, where alleged technical glitches disrupted the exam process.
During the hearing, Solicitor General Tushar Mehta, representing the respondents, argued that halting results across the country due to issues at just a few centres was unwarranted. He urged the court to permit the declaration of results for unaffected centres. However, the petitioners’ counsel opposed the request, contending that students impacted by technical failures might lose their chance to participate in counselling if the results were announced prematurely.
Justice Subodh Abhyankar of the Madhya Pradesh High Court found merit in Solicitor General Tushar Mehta’s arguments and directed that NEET-UG 2025 results be declared for all centres except those affected in Indore. As per the order dated May 16, the National Testing Agency (NTA) has been asked to submit a detailed report within two days, identifying the centres impacted by power failures during the exam. The matter is scheduled for the next hearing on May 19.

Meanwhile, the Madras High Court has temporarily restrained the NTA from releasing NEET-UG results following a petition by 13 students who alleged severe disruption during the exam at a Chennai centre due to a storm and power outage. Justice V. Lakshminarayanan of the Vacation Bench passed the interim order on Friday after hearing a joint writ petition filed by students who appeared for the exam at PM Shri Kendriya Vidyalaya CRPF, Avadi.

The court directed the NTA to investigate whether a power failure occurred at the centre during the May 4 exam and whether it had a material impact on the candidates’ performance. The authorities have been instructed to submit their response before the scheduled NEET-UG 2025 result declaration on June 14. The case has been posted for further hearing on June 2.
According to the petitioners’ affidavit, the disruption began an hour into the test when heavy rain and storm-like conditions led to a power outage. They alleged that the exam centre lacked basic backup infrastructure, with no inverters or generators available. Rainwater reportedly entered the examination hall, causing panic and forcing several candidates to be moved from their original seats.
