State Quota vs All India Quota (AIQ)

In Lucknow, MBBS seats are are allocated through two main quotas: All India Quota (AIQ) and State Quota.

All India Quota (AIQ):

  • 15 % of the total seats in Lucknow’s government medical colleges are reserved for the All India quota.
  • AIQ admission are conducted by the Medical Counselling Committee (MCC), and students can apply for AIQ seats based on their NEET score.

State Quota:

  • 85% of the seats in Lucknow’s government colleges are reserved for candidates from Uttar Pradesh under the State Quota.
  • Admission under the State Quota are managed by the Uttar Pradesh State Medical Counselling (UP State Counselling).

The eligibility for state quota seats is as follow:

  • The candidate must be a domicile of Uttar Pradesh.
  • Candidates from the other states can apply under AIQ.
