NEET UG 2024-25 Seat Allotment: NMC Asks MBBS Students to Verify Admission Status Online

The National Medical Commission (NMC) has announced that over 97.5% of MBBS seats across India have been successfully filled for the academic year 2024-25. The Undergraduate Medical Education Board (UGMEB) has advised all newly admitted first-year MBBS students to check if their names appear on the official list available at nmc.org.in.

In its official notification, the NMC stated:

“Students who have secured admission to MBBS programs for 2024-25 and do not see their names on the official list must immediately contact their respective Directorate of Medical Education or Counselling Authority.”

Total MBBS Seats and Counselling Status

According to the latest data released by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW) in April 2025, India currently offers 1,18,190 MBBS seats. Out of these, 1,15,250 seats have already been allotted through the NEET UG 2024-25 counselling process conducted by the Medical Counselling Committee (MCC).

NEET UG 2024-25 Counselling Summary

The MCC began counselling for the 15% All India Quota (AIQ) seats on August 14, 2024. The process included three rounds of special stray vacancy counselling to ensure maximum seat allocation. Due to various court cases related to exam transparency, the counselling was extended longer than usual and concluded on December 30, 2024.

NEET UG 2025 Exam Update

Meanwhile, the National Testing Agency (NTA) conducted the NEET UG 2025 exam on May 4, 2025. Nearly 23 lakh candidates appeared for the test. The NTA is expected to release the result on June 14, 2025, at the official website: neet.nta.nic.in.

• Check if their name is listed among admitted candidates
• Contact their state’s medical education authority if their name is missing
