MADHYA PRADESH: The MP government is planning to add 10,000 MBBS seats in the state. MP Deputy Chief Minister Rajendra Shukla informed about the plan to increase medical seats in Madhya Pradesh. This comes as very good news for NEET UG aspirants who are planning to study MBBS.
At present, there are about 1.1 lakh MBBS seats in India. The total government MBBS seats in MP are 2,275 and in private colleges, there are 2,400 seats available. If the MP gov’s plan gets executed, it will be a boon for NEET UG aspirants.
In the Budget 2025 speech, Finance Minister Smt. Nirmala Sitaraman had already highlighted the big plan to add 75,000 new MBBS seats in the next 5 Years. This aligns with the big ambition to achieve a 1:1000 doctor-to-patient ratio as per the WHO guidelines.
The MP government has also decided to open medical colleges at 12 places in the state in Public-Private partnership mode. These will be affiliated with the district hospital. Deputy Chief Minister Rajendra Shukla also said that the government is focussing on increasing the doctor’s presence in rural areas.
