NEET UG Result Case: Hearing in Madhya Pradesh High Court Today

Madhya Pradesh High Court to hear NEET UG re-exam plea today over power outages at Indore and Ujjain centers affecting students.

The Madhya Pradesh High Court is scheduled to hear the NEET UG result case today, Monday. During the previous hearing on May 22, Solicitor General Tushar Mehta represented the National Testing Agency (NTA) virtually. He informed the court that a committee should be formed to assess the impact on students from 24 exam centres in Indore.

The proposed committee is expected to listen to the concerns of affected students and recommend whether a re-exam or any alternative solution should be offered. Students impacted by the issue are eagerly waiting for the court’s decision on whether they will be given another chance to appear for the exam or presented with other options.

Advocate Mridul Bhatnagar, representing the petitioners, stated that around 60 petitions related to NEET UG have been filed from Indore and Ujjain. According to him, Indore experienced a power outage for about 2 hours during the exam, while Ujjain faced electricity issues for 40 to 45 minutes. He argued that students who couldn’t properly take the exam due to these disruptions should be given another opportunity so they can fairly demonstrate their abilities.

In response, NTA’s lawyer Mehta claimed that the exams were conducted peacefully and in a well-organised manner. However, Advocate Bhatnagar challenged this, stating that NEET UG requires an uninterrupted power supply, which the centres failed to provide.

Previous Court Action:

Earlier, on May 16, NTA had submitted its response to the court. On May 15, the High Court had put a temporary stay on the NEET UG results. The case affects students from more than 24 centres who are demanding a re-exam. A similar situation occurred in Ujjain, where over five students are believed to be affected. Many of these students have worked extremely hard and are repeat test-takers with 3–4 previous attempts.
