Punjab NEET UG 2025 MBBS/BDS Admission Policy
1. Centralized Admission Through NEET
All admissions whether under Government Quota, Management Quota, NRI, or Minority Quotas will be strictly based on NEET (UG) merit. No institution is allowed to admit students outside of this process.
2. Counselling Conducted by BFUHS
Baba Farid University of Health Sciences (BFUHS), Faridkot, has been authorized to conduct centralized counselling for all state quota and private institute seats (excluding the 15% All India Quota).
3. Eligibility Criteria
To qualify for State Quota seats, candidates must:
- Be Indian citizens.
- Have completed 10+1 and 10+2 from Punjab, or
- Be born in Punjab, or
- Be permanent residents of Punjab as defined in the policy.
Special eligibility is also granted to children of defense personnel, NRIs, minorities, and certain Central Government employees posted in Punjab.
4. Reservation Policy
The reservation structure for Government institutes includes:
- Scheduled Castes (SC): 25%
- Backward Classes (BC): 10%
- Border/Backward Areas: 2%
- Physically Disabled: 5%
- Sports Persons: 1%
- Freedom Fighters’ Descendants, Riot Victims, Defence & Police Personnel Wards: 1% each
- EWS Category: 10% (as per updated Medical Council guidelines)
This reservation structure applies similarly to private institutions under their respective quotas.
5. Special Provisions for Minority Institutions
Institutions like Christian Medical College (CMC) and Christian Dental College (CDC) in Ludhiana are allowed to follow their traditional admission procedures, charging ₹6.60 lakh/year for MBBS and ₹2.20 lakh/year for BDS, with a 10% annual fee hike.
6. Important Conditions
- No institution may demand full course fees in advance.
- Refunds are applicable if a student changes college during counselling.
- Separate counselling will be conducted for NRI seats before general categories.
- Vacant NRI or reserved seats will be merged into the General category if not filled.
7. Admission Committees
Separate admission committees have been established for MBBS and BDS courses under the supervision of BFUHS’s Vice-Chancellor, including representatives from various state departments like Social Justice, Defence Welfare, Sports, and Women Empowerment.
8. Appeals and Clarifications
The Director, Research and Medical Education, Punjab, will act as the appellate authority for any disputes. The Administrative Secretary holds the power to amend any clause or provide clarifications.
