The Kerala University of Health Sciences (KUHS) has added 600 more MBBS seats for the 2025–26 academic year, giving a big push to medical education in the state.
The total amount of MBBS seat strength in Kerala will increase from 4,555 to 5,155 in both government and private colleges with this move.

As part of this decision, the additional seats are being allotted as follows:
50 seats each were allotted to the following medical colleges:
- Travancore Medical College, Kollam
- Malabar Medical College Hospital and Research Centre, Kozhikode
- Jubilee Mission Medical College and Research Centre, Thrissur
- SUT Academy of Medical Sciences, Thiruvananthapuram
- PK Das Institute of Medical Sciences, Vaniyamkulam
100 seats each were allotted to the following medical colleges:
- Al Azhar Medical College and Super Specialty Hospital, Thodupuzha
- Kerala Medical College, Mangode, Palakkad (new)
50 seats each (approved previously) were allotted to the following medical colleges:
Subsequent to these approvals, the government sector will now provide 1,855 MBBS seats from previously 1,755 and the rest of the share will be accommodated by the private sector.
As KUHS Adds 600 More MBBS Seats, authorities said that the hike will not only satisfy the increasing demand for medical education but also provide a robust healthcare workforce for Kerala in the next few years.
