The National Testing Agency (NTA) has declared the NEET UG 2025 results, and this year, the cutoff has dropped across all categories, surprising many students and experts. However, despite the lowered cutoff, over 9 lakh candidates did not qualify for NEET 2025, while around 12 lakh students managed to pass the exam.
This result has once again highlighted the limited number of MBBS seats in India, especially in government medical colleges. With high competition, a significant number of qualified students still find it difficult to secure a government seat due to limited availability.
At the same time, private medical colleges in India charge extremely high tuition fees, which most families cannot afford. As a result, a large number of NEET-qualified students are now shifting their focus to MBBS abroad as a practical and affordable alternative.

Why Students Are Opting for MBBS Abroad:
- Lower Tuition Fees: Compared to private medical colleges in India, countries like Russia, Georgia, Kazakhstan, and the Philippines offer affordable MBBS programs starting from ₹20–40 lakhs for the entire course.
- No Donation System: Most foreign universities do not charge any capitation or donation fees, unlike many Indian private colleges.
- Globally Recognised Degrees: Several medical universities abroad are WHO-listed and approved by the NMC (National Medical Commission), allowing students to return to India and appear for the FMGE (Foreign Medical Graduate Examination).
- Better Availability of Seats: Overseas universities offer larger seat capacity, increasing chances for students to pursue MBBS without year gaps.

Experts Say Demand for MBBS Abroad Will Rise This Year
Education consultants and admission experts believe that the 2025 admission season will see a sharp rise in MBBS abroad enrollments. This trend is already visible, with thousands of students exploring foreign options after the NEET 2025 results.
“Due to the lower cutoff and intense competition, students who scored between 135 to 400 marks are not confident of securing Indian government MBBS seats. Abroad, they have better chances without spending ₹1 crore,” said an overseas education consultant from Delhi.
Note: For many aspiring doctors, studying MBBS abroad has become a practical pathway after NEET UG 2025, especially for those unable to afford private college fees in India or who narrowly missed the government cutoff.
