NMC MBBS Seat Matrix 2025: The National Medical Commission (NMC), through its Medical Assessment & Rating Board (MARB), has released the updated MBBS seat matrix for the academic year 2025-26, effective from 24 September 2025.
This revision incorporates both renewals and the addition of new seats, bringing 6,850 more MBBS seats into the system. With this update, the total number of MBBS seats across the country has reached 124,825, distributed among 809 medical colleges.
At the same time, the Commission has also reduced or withdrawn seats in some institutions. Notably, five medical colleges have been allotted zero seats this year, largely due to regulatory non-compliance or pending legal issues. Such measures aim to ensure that the seat matrix includes only those colleges meeting the required standards of medical education.
