UP NEET PG 2025: These Candidates Banned from Counselling; Know Why

UP NEET PG 2025: DGME bans 12 candidates from counselling for either not joining after seat allotment or leaving the course midway.

The Directorate General of Medical Education and Training, Uttar Pradesh (DGME, UP) has banned 12 candidates from participating in the upcoming UP NEET PG Counselling 2025. These candidates either failed to take admission after being allotted a seat in the stray vacancy round last year or dropped out midway after admission.

DGME issued an official notice stating that these 12 candidates are not eligible to participate in UP NEET PG counselling for the 2025-26 academic session. The notice further warns that any candidate who fails to join after seat allotment in the stray vacancy round will have their security deposit forfeited and be banned from participating in the counselling process for the following academic year.

  • 9 did not take admission after being allotted a seat in the final round.
  • 3 students took admission but later left the course mid-way.

As per the DGME rules, if a student leaves a seat allotted in the final round in a government, private, or dental college, they will be debarred from the next year’s admission process.

The UP NEET PG counselling for 2025-26 is expected to begin after July.

A senior official from the Medical Education Department explained, “This rule was introduced last year in July to prevent misuse of seats. Many students used to block seats but didn’t join, leaving medical colleges with vacant seats.” He added, “Before 2024, this issue was more frequent. We hope the strict rule will discourage such practices in the future.”

Currently, Uttar Pradesh has over 4,000 PG medical seats, including:

  • 1,871 MD/MS/Diploma seats in government colleges
  • 2,100 PG seats in private colleges
  • 250 seats in Super Speciality courses

Key Highlights:

  • Candidates not taking admission after seat allotment in the final round will face a ban and deposit forfeiture.
  • Students leaving courses midway after admission will also face a counselling ban.
  • DGME reiterates last year’s rules and enforces them strictly this year.
  • UP NEET PG Counselling 2025 to begin post-July.
