The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has registered a case against the trustee of Nobel Ayurvedic College, Junagadh, Gujarat, and a faculty member for allegedly offering a Rs 10 lakh bribe to an NCISM Hearing Committee member.

According to the FIR, the alleged bribe was offered in exchange for a favourable report concerning 13 teachers of Nobel Ayurvedic College who were suspected of existing only on paper.

CBI Registers Case Against Nobel Ayurvedic College Trustee

The FIR states that Rupali R. Mahadik, Principal of Prabuddh Ayurvedic Medical College, Lucknow, had been assigned by the National Commission for Indian System of Medicine (NCISM) as a Hearing Committee member to verify 13 teachers associated with Nobel Ayurvedic College in Junagadh.

On August 18, 2026, Mahadik allegedly received a WhatsApp call from a faculty member, who offered a bribe in return for submitting a positive report in favour of the teachers, according to the FIR.

Mahadik subsequently informed Mukul Patel, President of the Medical Assessment and Rating Board for Indian System of Medicine (MARBISM), NCISM, about the alleged offer. The FIR states that she was advised to remain in contact with the person so that evidence could be collected.

Rs 10 Lakh Allegedly Offered for Favourable Report

According to the FIR, on August 20, the trustee of Nobel Ayurvedic College allegedly contacted Mahadik and promised to pay Rs 10 lakh for providing a positive report that would clear the names of all 13 teachers.

Mahadik allegedly refused to accept the bribe and submitted a handwritten complaint to the CBI on August 21, requesting legal action against the accused persons.

The FIR further states that discreet verification conducted by the CBI prima facie indicated that the accused had offered and promised to pay Rs 10 lakh to obtain a favourable report. The alleged payment was reportedly proposed to be made in Delhi on August 22.

CBI FIR Under BNS and Prevention of Corruption Act

The CBI has registered the case under Section 61(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), 2023, read with Section 8 of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988, as amended in 2018.

The provisions relate to alleged criminal conspiracy and offering an undue advantage to a public servant.

Investigation Underway

The CBI investigation will examine the alleged communications, the verification process involving the 13 teachers and other evidence related to the alleged bribe offer.

It is important to note that the allegations are based on the FIR and ongoing investigation. Registration of an FIR does not establish the guilt of the accused, and the matter remains subject to due legal process.
