Gujarat Round 1 Counselling: After the completion of the first round counselling for MBBS & BDS admissions in Gujarat, total of 1,169 seats are still vacant. Out of these, 588 are for MBBS courses and 581 for BDS. The second round of counselling will be starting on 29th August 2025.
437 seats are left for MBBS under the government quota, 120 under management quota, and 31 under NRI quota. 521 seats for BDS remains in government quota, 51 in management quota, and 1 under the NRI quota.
Even the prestigious BJ Medical College (BJMC) in Ahmedabad has 61 MBBS seats unfilled. Faculty members believe that many students have opted for All India Quota seats or colleges closer to their hometowns.

An additional reason linked to BJMC’s vacant seats is the recent Air India Flight 171 crash on June 12, 2025, which tragically struck the hostel mess during lunch hours. The incident claimed the lives of four medical students and has reportedly made some families reluctant to choose BJMC for admission.
