Admission Procedure

Before talking about the admission procedure of MBBS, let us tell you the Eligibility criteria of MBBS.

Eligibility CriteriaAspirants must have passed Class XII/higher secondary/pre-university qualifying examination with Science subjects, i.e. Physics, Chemistry and Zoology/Botany. They also must have studied English as the main subject for their qualifying examination.
The regulatory authorities mention additional eligibility requirements for MBBS, i.e. Medical Council of India (MCI).
Age CriteriaFurther, aspirants also need to fulfil the age limit criteria, i.e. they must have completed 17 years of age at the time of admissions.
The maximum age limitation for applying for the MBBS program is 25 years.

Entrance ExamNational Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET)

You must be aware of the news that is going on about NEET. After postponing the exams due to the CoViD-19, the government of India has finally decided to conduct it on 12 September 2021. In India, the process of admission for MBBS is entirely based on the entrance test. Firsthand admission to the MBBS course is not feasible without any entrance exam score. Therefore, an MBBS aspirant must clear the MBBS entrance exam to secure a seat in the best colleges. 


The exclusive entrance exam for admission in MBBS/BDS/BVSc/UG AYUSH courses is NEET. National Eligibility cum Entrance Test or NEET is a known national-level MBBS entrance exam. All the MCI accredited government and private medical universities consider the score of NEET-UG for MBBS admission. Usually, the exam of NEET-UG is conducted in May. However, due to the coronavirus pandemic now the exam is scheduled to be held in September.

A. Yes, an MBBS is a graduate in Surgery. Hence, they are licenced to perform surgeries.

Q. Can I do MBBS after the 12th?

A. A. Yes, to join an MBBS course, you need to complete 10+2 with Physics, Chemistry, Biology and English. It would help if you also secured a minimum aggregate of 50% in the core subjects (PCB).
