NEET UG Cut off 2024: The National Testing Agency (NTA) prescribed the minimum marks for the NEET cutoff in 2024 to select candidates in medical colleges in India according to the NEET scorecards. The National Eligibility Entrance Test NEET 2024 includes two types of cutoff. The first is the qualifying cutoff, meaning candidates must pass the entrance exam. The second is the admission cut-off, the last rank required for any college under NEET 2024. The cutoff score of NEET 2024 will be announced at neet.nta.nic.in. Candidates looking to apply for different medical courses need to qualify for the NEET cutoff to participate in the counselling process to get selected for their dream colleges.

The number of candidates participating in the NEET exam, the total number of seats available in medical colleges and dental colleges in India, and the difficulty level of the examination. The announcement of the result and cutoff percentile is published on NTA’s official website. In this article, you will get information about the NEET cutoff for MBBS or BDS courses, Government and Private College cutoff available in India, & the cutoff based on category.

What is NEET Cutoff?

The NEET cut-off score is the minimum number of marks required to qualify for the NEET exam. The NEET cut-off is divided into two categories: admission cut-off and qualifying cut-off. NEET admission cut-off is the last rank at which a candidate will be admitted, whereas NEET qualifying is the minimum mark that a candidate must earn in order to pass the exam.

According to the previous year’s data, the passing marks in NEET Cut off were 720-138 for the general category and 137-108 for the SC/ST/OBC category. The general group had a percentile of 50, whereas the SC/ST/OBC category had a score of 40. Because NEET has superseded all medical entrance exams, medical institutes that accept NEET scores will start providing admission based on the results.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

What does the minimum qualifying percentile of the NEET cut-off mean?

NEET cutoff 2024 is the minimum qualifying percentile to be secured to pass the entrance test.

If a student qualifies for NEET, are they eligible to participate in the counselling process?

Students qualifying for the exam will be eligible to participate in the counselling process. It must be noted that mere qualification does not ensure admission to a medical or dental seat.

Why does the NEET Cut off percentile remains the same while the Cut off marks vary yearly?

The NMC and DCI provided the NEET cut-off percentile fixed at the 50th percentile for unreserved category candidates and the 40th percentile for reserved category candidates. The percentile depends on the relative score of all the candidates who have appeared in the exam. Therefore, the corresponding marks to the percentile vary each year as candidates’ performance will also differ.

Will the NEET 2024 cut-off increase?

The cutoff for the Other Backward Class (OBC) category is not expected to change much. Still, the cutoff rank for the Economically Weaker Section (EWS) is expected to decrease this year.

How many marks are required in NEET for MBBS for OBC?

NEET For MBBS requires 50% in the UT or General category. The qualifying percentage for OBC students is 40%, while the rate for SC and ST students is 35%. Students can also visit the NTA NEET Official Website to learn more about their category-specific scores.
