Mumbai: The Maharashtra State Common Entrance Test (CET) Cell has issued Notice No. 15 under NEET-UG 2026, announcing the inclusion of three private university medical and dental colleges in CAP Round 2 for admission to MBBS and BDS (Group-A) courses for the academic year 2026-27. Following this update, the CET Cell has also extended the preference-filling deadline for Round 2.
The notice (No.MED-1026/CR.No.83/UG-2026/CAP-2/Pvt College/Preference/2227, dated 10/09/2026) refers to Gazette Notification No. 506 & 507 dated 07/09/2026 issued by the Higher and Technical Education Department, along with subsequent letters from the Medical Education and Drugs Department and the Higher and Technical Education Department.
Colleges Added to CAP Round 2
As per the Maharashtra Private Universities (Establishment and Regulation) Act, 2023, Dr. Balasaheb Vikhe Patil University, Ahilyanagar, and Lata Mangeshkar University, Nagpur, have now commenced functioning as Private Universities. The following institutions under these universities are included in CAP Round 2:
- Dr. Vithalrao Vikhe Patil Foundation’s Medical College, Ahilyanagar
- N.K.P. Salve Institute of Medical Sciences, Nagpur
- Ranjit Deshmukh Dental College and Research Centre, Nagpur
Seat availability and category-wise distribution for these colleges have been made available on the official website. Candidates have been advised to check the respective college websites for fee structure details.
Quota Distribution for These Colleges
The notice lays down the following seat-sharing formula for the three colleges:
- 40% of total intake reserved for candidates with Maharashtra State Domicile (State Quota)
- 60% of seats filled from candidates on an All India basis, of which a maximum of 15% is reserved for Non-Resident Indian (NRI) candidates
- If eligible NRI candidates are unavailable for the 15% NRI quota, those seats will be filled from All India Quota candidates starting CAP Round 3
Who Can Fill Preferences for These Seats
The notice specifies eligibility for preference-filling as follows:

In view of the inclusion of these colleges, the CET Cell has extended the preference-filling process up to 10:00 AM on September 12, 2026. Candidates who have already registered or submitted their preferences and wish to make changes can unlock their preferences through their login and edit them within the extended time limit.
