The Medical Counselling Committee (MCC), Directorate General of Health Services, has informed candidates that choice filling for Round 1 of the NEET UG 2026 counselling is now available.
Candidates can start filling their choices from 04:00 PM onwards on the day the notice was issued. This step applies to candidates participating in the All India Quota counselling for MBBS, BDS, and other UG medical/dental courses conducted by MCC.
What Is Choice Filling in NEET UG Counselling
Choice filling is the stage where registered and eligible candidates select their preferred colleges, courses, and categories in order of priority on the MCC counselling portal. Seat allotment in each round is done by matching a candidate’s NEET UG rank against the choices filled, subject to seat availability and eligibility.

Steps for Candidates in Round 1
- Log in to the official MCC counselling portal using registered credentials
- Browse the list of participating institutes and courses under All India Quota
- Select and arrange preferred college-course combinations in the order of actual preference, since allotment follows this sequence strictly
- Add as many choices as possible, as a shorter choice list reduces the chance of getting an allotment
- Save the entered choices at regular intervals to avoid data loss
- Lock the choices before the deadline, since choices not locked in time may be auto-locked as per portal rules
- Take a printout or screenshot of the locked choices for personal record
Points to Keep in Mind
- Choices, once locked, generally cannot be edited for that round, so candidates should double-check college and course codes before locking
- Candidates should keep their NEET UG 2026 scorecard, category certificates, and other documents ready in advance, as these are required at the time of document verification and admission
- Seat allotment results, reporting schedules, and further round details will be announced separately by MCC after choice filling closes
Where to Check Updates
MCC has advised all candidates to regularly visit its official website, www.mcc.nic.in, for further updates, schedule changes, and announcements related to the counselling process.
