MCC Weeding Out Notice 2026: AIQ Joined Candidates to Be Removed

New Delhi: The Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) has issued an urgent notice to candidates and state counselling authorities on the weeding out of joined All India Quota (AIQ) candidates. The MCC weeding out notice 2026 (Notice No. 25, dated 10 October 2026) says AIQ candidates who have joined up to Round 3 must be removed before state counselling Round 3 seat processing.

The notice follows directions of the Supreme Court of India in Contempt Petition (C) No. 289 of 2022 in Writ Petition No. 223 of 2022, Shubhankar Patnaik vs. K. Ramesh Reddy & Ors. Under these directions, filtering out joined AIQ candidates is mandatory before the stray vacancy round of state UG counselling.

What State Counselling Authorities Must Do

  • Download the list of allotted AIQ candidates from the MCC data sharing portal.
  • Weed out the AIQ candidates who have joined up to Round 3.
  • Complete this step before seat processing of Round 3 of state counselling.
  • Make sure no candidate holding an AIQ seat is allotted a seat through state counselling.

What It Means for Candidates

  • A candidate who has joined an AIQ seat up to Round 3 will not be allotted a seat through state counselling in the upcoming round.
  • Candidates who have not joined an AIQ seat are not covered by this weeding out.
  • Candidates should follow their state counselling authority’s website for its schedule and Round 3 results.
