NEET UG 2025 Aspirant Dies by Suicide in Kota a Day Before Exam

An 18-year-old NEET UG 2025 aspirant, living with her parents in Kota and preparing for the exam, tragically died by suicide a day before the exam.

New Delhi: A NEET-UG aspirant allegedly died by suicide on Saturday evening by hanging herself from an iron grille in her room in the Parshavnath area of Kota, police said. The incident occurred just a day before the national medical entrance exam scheduled for Sunday.

According to Arvind Bhardwaj, Circle Inspector at Kunhadi police station, the student was under 18 years old and originally hailed from Sheopur, Madhya Pradesh. She had been living with her parents in Kota for several years and was preparing for NEET-UG at a local coaching institute.

The girl reportedly used her scarf to take the extreme step while her family members were present at home. They discovered her unresponsive around 9 PM and immediately alerted authorities. Police said they did not recover any suicide note from the scene. The body has been sent for postmortem examination.

This incident marks the 14th case of suicide among coaching students in Kota in 2025. Last year, the city reported 17 such cases, raising ongoing concerns about student mental health and the intense academic pressure in India’s coaching hubs.
