New Delhi: In a major crackdown on misinformation surrounding the NEET UG 2025, the National Testing Agency (NTA) has flagged 106 Telegram channels and 16 Instagram accounts allegedly involved in circulating fake news and misleading content about the exam, according to official sources.
The action comes amid growing concerns over false claims of paper leaks and unauthorised information being shared online. The Cyber Crime Coordination Centre under the Ministry of Home Affairs is currently investigating the matter.
To counter such malpractice, the NTA had earlier launched a dedicated grievance portal, urging students, parents, and the public to report suspicious individuals or claims related to NEET. So far, the portal has received nearly 1,500 reports, the majority of which are linked to Telegram channels.
“This initiative is in line with the Public Examinations (Prevention of Unfair Means) Act, 2024, aimed at curbing unfair practices in public exams and safeguarding the future of students,” the NTA stated.
The agency has informed that suspicious claims can be reported through the portal until 5 PM on May 4, 2025.
