Rajasthan MBBS NRI Quota Fee Hike 2025: Hundreds of MBBS students admitted under the NRI quota in Rajasthan Medical Education Society (RajMES) colleges are facing a major setback after a new government order increased their annual tuition fee from ₹9.57 lakh to ₹23.92 lakh for the academic session 2025-26.
This order, issued by the Department of Medical Education (DME), Rajasthan, has sparked frustration among students who already secured seats in Round 1 and Round 2 of NEET UG 2025 counselling and are now being asked to pay the revised fee amount.
What the New Order Says on Rajasthan MBBS NRI Quota Fee Hike 2025
The order states that for all RajMES-run medical colleges, the NRI quota MBBS annual tuition fee has been standardised at:

₹23,92,978/- (equivalent to USD 25,000) per academic year.
Earlier, students admitted under the same quota were paying only ₹9,57,191/- annually. The order further clarifies that if there is any 5% increase in management quota fees, the same will also apply to the NRI quota proportionally.
Applies to NEET UG 2025 Admissions
The new rule will apply to all students admitted in the 2025-26 session, including those who were already admitted in Round 1 and Round 2 counselling under the NRI quota.
“We were admitted as per the previous fee order. Suddenly being asked to pay nearly ₹24 lakh is unjust and beyond our capacity,” said first-year MBBS student from a RajMES college.
Applicable Colleges
This order affects all government medical colleges operating under the Rajasthan Medical Education Society (RajMES), including:
- Government Medical College, Dungarpur
- Government Medical College, Chittorgarh
- Government Medical College, Barmer
- Government Medical College, Pali
- Government Medical College, Bharatpur
- Government Medical College, Sri Ganganagar
- Government Medical College, Dholpur, and others.
The order cites earlier DME directions dated 10.09.2020 and 23.09.2025, aligning RajMES NRI fees with those of private medical colleges under the management quota.
The intent is to bring parity between both categories; however, it has unintentionally burdened current students who had already planned finances based on the old structure.
Students and parents are urging the Rajasthan government to implement the new fee prospectively, for the next batch. They are appealing for possible reconsideration or rollback of the hike for those already admitted.
“This is not just a hike, it’s a 150% jump mid-course. Many families took loans or used savings for the initial payment,” said a parent.
Fee Comparison
Session | Fee Type | Annual Fee (INR) | % Change |
---|---|---|---|
2024–25 | NRI Quota | ₹9,57,191 | — |
2025–26 | NRI Quota | ₹23,92,978 | +150% |
The new RajMES fee order has caused anxiety among NRI quota students admitted through NEET UG 2025. While the government cites uniformity and parity as reasons, affected students are calling for fairness and clarity, hoping the authorities will reconsider applying the fee hike retrospectively.
