The Selection Committee, Directorate of Medical Education & Research (DME&R), Kilpauk, Chennai, has extended the Tamil Nadu State UG Medical Counselling Round 1 schedule, following the extension of All India Quota counselling by the Medical Counselling Committee (MCC).
Why the Extension?
As per Notification No. 17/SCS1(1)/2026 dated August 18, 2026, the Selection Committee stated that as per the MCC’s notification (Ref. U-11011/07/2026-MEC) dated August 17, 2026, the counselling for All India Quota seats has been extended. Accordingly, the Tamil Nadu State UG Medical Counselling Round 1 process has also been extended to keep it in sync with the central schedule.

Key Points for Candidates
- Candidates who are yet to register, fill their choices, or lock their choices for TN UG Medical Counselling Round 1 must complete the process by 5 PM on August 20, 2026.
- Seat allotment results will be declared on August 22, 2026.
- Candidates allotted seats must download their allotment order and report to the allotted institution on or before August 28, 2026, 5:00 PM.
