The Directorate General of Medical Education and Training, Uttar Pradesh, has issued an official notice (No. M.E.-3/UG-2026/1476, dated 03.08.2026) laying out important information and instructions for candidates participating in the first round of online counselling for UP NEET UG 2026. Here’s a complete breakdown of what candidates need to know before registering.
Who Can Apply
Only candidates declared successful in the NEET UG 2026 entrance examination are eligible to take part in UP NEET UG 2026 counselling.
Registration Process
All eligible candidates must register by logging in on the official department website, upneet.gov.in. Candidates are advised to use their own mobile number and email ID during registration, as all official communication will be sent only to the mobile number and email address provided at the time of registration.
Registration Fee
A non-refundable online registration fee of Rs. 2,000/- is mandatory for participating in the counselling process. This fee will not be returned under any circumstances.
Document Verification
At the time of registration, candidates must select one nodal centre for online verification of documents on upneet.gov.in. The following documents need to be uploaded for verification:
- High School marksheet/certificate
- Intermediate marksheet
- Reservation-related certificates (OBC, SC, ST, EWS & Ex-Army, NCC, FF, PWD), if applicable
- Domicile certificate, if applicable
Security Money (Dharohar Dhanrashi) Details
Candidates must deposit security money online as per the following schedule; those who do not deposit it will not be eligible for choice filling:

Candidates wishing to participate for both government and private (Medical & Dental) seats must deposit Rs. 2,00,000/-, while those applying for both government and private Dental college seats must deposit Rs. 1,00,000/-.
The security money will not be adjusted against tuition fees under any circumstances. Candidates are specially advised to use their own bank account while depositing the security money, since refunds to unallotted/non-admitted candidates after each round will be made to the same account from which the amount was originally paid.
Free Exit Facility
Candidates allotted/admitted through Round 1 counselling (both government and private Medical/Dental colleges) will have a Free Exit facility — if a candidate does not take admission after Round 1 allotment, their security money will be refunded. Candidates who avail Free Exit in Round 1 can participate again in Round 2 or Round 3 counselling.
Reservation Certificate Guidelines
- All reservation certificates (OBC, SC/ST, EWS) will be valid only if issued in the format prescribed by the UP Government by a competent authority of Uttar Pradesh.
- OBC and EWS reservation certificates must be dated 1 April 2026 or later to be considered valid.
- SC/ST candidates are advised to get their certificates issued on the updated format to ensure smooth online verification.
- Reservation certificates issued on formats meant for appointments under the Central Government will not be valid.
- Candidates belonging to reserved categories from states other than Uttar Pradesh will be considered under the unreserved category and will not get reservation benefits.
Sub-category Reservation Certificates
For availing reservation benefits under sub-categories in UP NEET UG 2026, only the following certificates will be valid:
- Disability certificates for PwD candidates issued by centres designated by DGHS, MoHFW, New Delhi.
- Reservation certificates for dependents of freedom fighters, issued on the UP Government’s prescribed format by a competent authority.
- Certificates for sons/daughters of ex-servicemen (disabled in war/retired/martyred), issued by the competent authority on the prescribed format.
Choice Filling & Choice Lock
- Candidates must fill their choices for government/private Medical/Dental college seats based on their own priority/preference.
- Candidates should fill choices only for colleges they are genuinely willing to join.
- Locking the choice after online choice filling is mandatory. If choice lock is not done, the candidate will automatically be excluded from the allotment process.
- Once choices are locked, no modification/change will be allowed under any circumstances, and no application for the same will be considered by the Directorate.
Admission Process
- For allotted candidates in government Medical/Dental colleges, the admission process will be completed at the allotted college itself.
- For allotted candidates in private Medical/Dental colleges, the admission process will be conducted at the nodal centre designated by the Government.
