Dehradun, October 13, 2025: Hemwati Nandan Bahuguna Uttarakhand Medical Education University (HNBUMU) released officially the opening of 50 new MBBS seats at Shri Guru Ram Rai Institute of Medical and Health Sciences (SGRRIMHS), Dehradun, under the Round 3 counselling of NEET UG 2025.
The boost comes after approval by New Delhi-based National Medical Commission (NMC) on October 11, 2025, boosting the total MBBS strength of the college from 100 to 150 seats.
NMC Approval and Official Notification
As per official notification issued by HNBUMU, the university received official communication from NMC approving the new 50 MBBS seats of SGRRIMHS.

Acting in haste, the University Counselling Board included these extra seats in the final Round 3 seat matrix, posted on the website – www.hnbumu.ac.in.
The circular, marked October 12, 2025, guarantees that the revised seat matrix has been posted for the candidates to exercise their choice filling under both State Quota and All India Quota.

Seat Matrix Highlights Updated
According to the final Round 3 seat matrix, Uttarakhand also has seats in five government medical colleges and four private colleges.
With the addition of the 50 seats in SGRRIMHS, the MBBS seats in private colleges have seen a steep rise, promising more opportunities for the state’s aspirants.
The seat matrix also offers allotment for:
- Government Medical Colleges of Dehradun, Haldwani, Haridwar, Almora, and Srinagar Garhwal.
- Private Medical Colleges like Himalayan Institute of Medical Sciences (HIMS), Gautam Buddha Chikitsa Mahavidyalaya, and SGRRIMHS.
- Dental Colleges like Seema Dental College and Uttaranchal Dental & Medical Research Institute.
It was made certain that the reservation policies are not altered and seat allocations are done on the basis of information provided by concerned institutions. There is a common pool quota for spouses and children of victims of terrorism as per government regulations.

HNBUMU has instructed all the NEET UG 2025 candidates who have chosen the counselling session to check the official website from time to time for live updates and updated instructions.
