Government Medical Colleges

Seven Government Medical Colleges offer a combined intake of 1,450 seats, led by B. J. Medical College, Ahmedabad, Government Medical College, Surat, and Shri M. P. Shah Government Medical College, Jamnagar, each with 250 seats. This category has no Management or NRI quota seats — all non-AIQ seats fall under the Government Quota.

Self-Financed Institute (SFI) Medical Colleges

Eighteen SFI Medical Colleges together offer 3,450 seats, the largest share of Gujarat’s total MBBS intake. These colleges have both Management Quota and NRI Quota seats alongside the Government Quota. Notable colleges include GCS Medical College, Ahmedabad, Parul Institute of Medical Sciences & Research, Vadodara, and Dr. M. K. Shah Medical College and Research Centre, Ahmedabad (250 seats, the highest in this category).

GMERS Medical Colleges

Thirteen GMERS Medical Colleges provide 2,100 seats. Colleges such as GMERS Sola, Gandhinagar, Gotri, Dharpur-Patan, Valsad, Himmatnagar, Junagadh, and Vadnagar have 200 seats each, while GMERS Porbandar, Godhra, Rajpipla, Morbi, and Navsari have 100 seats each. GMERS colleges do not have Management Quota seats but do have NRI Quota seats.

Municipal Medical Colleges (Local Quota)

Smt. NHL Municipal Medical College, Ahmedabad and Surat Municipal Institute of Medical Education & Research (SMIMER), Surat together contribute 500 seats, split between Government-quota-type (NHLG/SMCG) and local-quota (NHLL/SMCL) seats.

PwD Seat Matrix

A total of 60 PwD (Persons with Disability) seats are available across the seven Government Medical Colleges, distributed among SC, ST, SEBC, EWS, and Open categories.

Important Note on Vacant NRI Seats

As per the official notice, if any NRI seats remain vacant, they will be filled as Management Quota seats with Management Quota fees by ACPUGMEC. This also applies to all GMERS Medical Colleges and Gujarat Adani Institute of Medical Sciences, Bhuj — these institutes do not have separate Management Quota seats but do have NRI seats, and any vacant NRI seats there will similarly be converted to Management Quota seats with Management Quota fees.
