Maharashtra NEET UG 2026: 3 Colleges Skip First Admission Round

The State Common Entrance Test (CET) Cell, Maharashtra, has issued Notice No. 11 dated August 25, 2026, informing candidates that three private medical/dental colleges will not participate in the First Admission Round of MBBS/BDS (Group-A) courses for the Academic Year 2026-27.

As per the notice, the following colleges have initiated the process of establishing themselves as private universities and will therefore sit out the first round of counselling:

  1. Dr. Vithalrao Vikhe Patil Foundation’s Medical College, Ahilyanagar
  2. N.K.P. Salve Institute of Medical Sciences, Nagpur
  3. Ranjit Deshmukh Dental College and Research Centre, Nagpur

The notice, issued with reference to a letter dated 25/08/2026 from the Medical Education and Drugs Department, clarifies that these colleges will join the admission process in a subsequent round only after completing all formalities required for the establishment of their respective private universities.

Conditions Once Colleges Get Private University Status

The CET Cell has also specified that once these colleges receive recognition/approval as private universities, the following provisions under Clause 9.3 of the NEET UG 2026 Information Brochure will apply:

  1. 40% of institutional-quota seats will be reserved for candidates holding a Maharashtra Domicile Certificate.
  2. Fees will be as determined by the Fee Fixation Committee constituted by the respective private university.
  3. Candidates admitted to these colleges will not be eligible for any government scholarship or fee reimbursement scheme.

What This Means for Candidates

Candidates who were considering these three colleges as options should note that they cannot be selected in the First Admission Round of Maharashtra NEET UG CAP 2026-27. These colleges are expected to become available only in a later round, once their private university status is formally granted.

All candidates are advised to take note of this notice and plan their choice-filling and college preferences accordingly.
