MCC NRI Quota Counselling 2025

Who is Considered an NRI Quota Candidate?

In MCC NEET UG counselling (including deemed university admissions), an NRI quota candidate is someone who qualifies under the official Non-Resident Indian (NRI) category as per the Supreme Court guidelines and MCC’s eligibility rules.

Supreme Court Directions on Deemed University Counselling

In its order dated 12th December 2022 in I.A No. 132614/2022 in W.P (C) No. 267/2017, the Supreme Court directed that:

(1). Four Rounds of Counselling: Round 1, Round 2, Round 3, and Stray Vacancy Round for 100% seats in Deemed Universities will be conducted by MCC under the All India Quota (AIQ).
(2). Stray Vacancy Round Online: MCC will conduct the stray vacancy round completely online, eliminating offline admissions.

Non-Resident Indian (NRI)

  • An Indian citizen who resides outside India for employment, business, education, or other purposes.
  • Holds an Indian passport but has a residence abroad.

Overseas Citizen of India (OCI)

  • Foreign citizens of Indian origin registered as OCI cardholders.
  • Can apply under the NRI quota after the 2021 Supreme Court ruling allowing OCI/PIO to be treated at par with NRIs for admission purposes.

Children/Dependents of NRIs

  • Biological children, legally adopted children, or dependents of NRI parents.

Sponsored Candidates
