NEW DELHI: The Bihar government is increasing seat capacity at PMCH. Patna Medical College and Hospital (PMCH) is undergoing a massive Rs 5,544 crore makeover, which will introduce several new facilities. This includes a new medical college with 250 annual intakes.

During the centenary celebrations of Patna Medical College and Hospital (PMCH), President Droupadi Murmu highlighted its historic legacy and immense contributions to the field of medicine. She praised PMCH for its pioneering research and its role in shaping the future of healthcare. With its rich history and commitment to medical excellence, PMCH continues to be a pillar of healthcare and research in India.
Dr. Indrashekhar Thakur, the medical superintendent at PMCH, stated that the first phase involves constructing four towers, two of which are nearly complete. Operations will begin as soon as L&T hands over the buildings. Initially approved by the Bihar cabinet in 2018, the project aims to expand PMCH into a 5,462-bed hospital, making it the second-largest in the world by capacity.
This massive upgrade positions Bihar at the forefront of medical advancements, paving the way for better healthcare services and a brighter future in the medical field.
