The Maharashtra State Common Entrance Test (CET) Cell has issued Notice No. 12 regarding the Choice Filling process for MBBS/BDS courses under NEET-UG 2026. The notice informs candidates about court-directed inclusion of previously withheld results in the ongoing Centralized Admission Process (CAP), along with detailed instructions for filling preferences.
Background: Withheld Results and Court Orders
According to the notice, the National Testing Agency (NTA) had withheld the results of certain NEET-UG 2026 candidates. However, the Hon’ble High Court of Bombay and the Hon’ble High Court of Delhi, in their recent orders, have directed that the results of the petitioner candidates be declared and that these candidates be allowed to participate in the ongoing CAP process.
As per the court’s directive, the results of these candidates are to be shared with the CET Cell by 27th August 2026. Once shared, in compliance with the court orders, these candidates will be included in the ongoing admission process, which will lead to a change in the Final Merit List. A Revised Final Merit List, incorporating the petitioner candidates, will subsequently be declared on the official website.
Choice Filling: Key Dates and Editing Window
Candidates participating in the process should note the following:
- The preference form, once filled, can be edited multiple times within the scheduled time frame.
- The editing window is open up to 29th August 2026, 5:30 PM.
- To edit choices, candidates must unlock the form using an OTP sent to their registered email and mobile number.
- Candidates may edit their choices after the declaration of the Revised Final Merit List, if they wish to do so.
Instructions for the Choice Filling Process
The CET Cell has laid out the following guidelines for candidates:
- Candidates can fill a minimum of 1 and a maximum of all colleges during the process.
- Private colleges have both State Quota and Institute Quota, each with a different fee structure – candidates must ensure they select the correct quota while filling choices.
- Some colleges offer both MBBS and BDS courses; candidates must verify the correct course before submitting the form.
- Preferences should be arranged in order, starting with the most preferred college and quota at the top, followed by subsequent choices.
- Once all preferred choices are filled, candidates must lock the preference form.
- A submitted and locked form can still be edited within the scheduled time using OTP verification via registered mobile and email.
- Only the last saved or locked preferences will be considered for the allotment process.
- Candidates who fail to lock their form should note that the last filled preferences will be auto-saved at the end of the schedule – no changes will be allowed after the given time.
- Candidates are advised to complete the process well in advance to avoid last-minute technical glitches, internet issues, or delays.
- Candidates are responsible for keeping their login credentials confidential. Any choices filled or edited through an individual’s login will be considered as filled by the candidate themselves, and the CET Cell will not be responsible for any loss arising from wrongly filled choices.
What Candidates Should Do Now
- Regularly check the official CET Cell website for updates on the Revised Final Merit List.
- Complete the choice filling and locking process within the given deadline of 29th August 2026, 5:30 PM.
- Keep registered mobile number and email accessible for OTP-based editing.
