NMC Opens Online Application for Eligibility Certificate

The National Medical Commission (NMC) has issued a Public Notice inviting online applications for the Eligibility Certificate, required by candidates planning to appear for the Foreign Medical Graduate Examination (FMGE) Screening Test conducted by the National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences (NBEMS).

According to the notice issued by the Ethics & Medical Registration Board (EMRB), NMC (File No. R.15015/(Gen.)(34)/2024-Regn., e-ID 8291206), dated 28th August 2026, candidates who have not yet obtained their Eligibility Certificate must apply through the NMC’s official portal.

Why This Matters

The FMGE Screening Test may be scheduled in the coming months, and as per NMC guidelines, candidates cannot appear for the exam without a valid Eligibility Certificate. This fresh window gives candidates who missed applying earlier a chance to submit their applications before the FMGE cycle begins.

NMC has also released an advisory listing common mistakes made during past application cycles. Candidates are advised to:

• Fill the application themselves and avoid using proxies
• Keep original documents ready and verify all entries against them before submission
• Provide an active mobile number to receive alerts or deficiency notifications promptly
• Rectify any flagged deficiencies as quickly as possible to avoid last-minute issues
• Double-check all entries to ensure faster processing and approval

Candidates who have already submitted their Eligibility Certificate application in the past need not apply again.
