In a major relief for medical aspirants across the country, the National Testing Agency (NTA) has extended the deadline for candidates to submit their bank account details for the NEET-UG 2026 exam fee refund. Unregistered or pending candidates now have until June 22, 2026 (up to 11:50 PM) to provide their banking information via the official portal.
The decision comes in the wake of the NTA’s previous announcement to completely cancel the May 3 examination due to widespread allegations of paper leaks and irregularities. A fresh, nationwide re-examination is currently scheduled for June 21, 2026, for which the NTA has promised no additional fees will be charged to the candidates.
13 Lakh Candidates Already Registered
According to an official public notice released by the agency, approximately 13 lakh candidates have already successfully updated their preferred banking credentials since the refund link went live on May 22.
The initial deadline was set for May 27. However, recognizing that a significant portion of the 22-plus lakh registered applicants were yet to complete the process due to technical difficulties or documentation delays, the NTA decided to extend the window by nearly a month.
Guidelines Issued by NTA
The agency has issued a strict warning to candidates regarding the submission process, stressing that accuracy is absolutely necessary.
- Final Submissions: Once bank account details are submitted, they will be treated as final. Absolutely no modifications or corrections will be allowed after the form is saved.
- Accuracy Check: Candidates are highly encouraged to upload a legible, scanned copy of a cancelled cheque to ensure there are no errors in account numbers or IFSC codes.
- Avoid Last-Minute Rush: Students have been strongly urged to complete the submission well before the June 22 closing time to avoid unexpected server traffic issues.

Background on the Re-Exam
The decision to offer full refunds was made following the massive public outrage and subsequent investigations, including a probe by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), after the May 3 offline exam was compromised by a coordinated paper leak.
The Union Education Ministry has ordered heavily reinforced security measures for the upcoming June 21 pen-and-paper re-examination. Furthermore, government officials have indicated that starting next year, NEET-UG will permanently transition into a Computer-Based Test (CBT) model to minimize human interference and prevent future security breaches.
