Lucknow, September 3, 2026: The authorities conducting UP NEET UG Counselling 2026 have released the eligibility criteria for candidates seeking admission to medical and dental courses in Uttar Pradesh. As per Chapter-2 of the official counselling brochure, only candidates who meet the specified conditions will be allowed to participate in the counselling process.
Eligibility Criteria for UP NEET UG 2026 Counselling
According to the official notification, the following candidates are eligible:
- Candidates who have been declared qualified in the NEET UG-2026 examination.
- Reserved category candidates of Uttar Pradesh are eligible for UP NEET UG-2026 counselling as per the reserved category cut-off score issued by NTA (National Testing Agency).
- Reserved category candidates from other states are eligible for registration in UP NEET UG-2026 counselling only as per the unreserved category cut-off score issued by NTA. Such candidates will not be entitled to the benefit of the reserved category cut-off score.
Domicile Requirements for Government Colleges
- For admission to all Government medical and dental colleges/institutions/universities in the state sector of UP, candidates must be original residents of Uttar Pradesh.
- Candidates who passed both High School and Intermediate (or equivalent) examinations from UP are exempt from submitting a domicile/residence certificate.
- Candidates who passed one or both of these exams from outside UP, but are original residents of the state, must submit a domicile/residence certificate issued by a competent authority of UP in the prescribed format.
Private Colleges and Minority Institutions
- For private sector medical and dental colleges/universities and minority institutions offering UG courses, domicile of Uttar Pradesh is not required.
- Candidates from other Indian states who passed High School and Intermediate examinations are also eligible to participate in counselling for private and minority institution seats.
Additional Conditions
- Candidates allotted seats in the UP NEET UG-2025 Stray and Special Stray Vacancy Round who did not take admission will not be eligible to participate in UP NEET UG-2026 counselling.
- The educational eligibility criteria mentioned in the NEET UG-2026 brochure issued by NTA will also apply for admission to undergraduate courses (as per Annexure-VI).
What Candidates Should Do
- Carefully check domicile requirements before applying for government college seats.
- Reserved category candidates from other states should note they will be evaluated against the unreserved cut-off.
- Keep domicile/residence certificates ready in the prescribed format, if applicable.
