New Delhi: The Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) has opened a portal for the NEET UG 2025 counselling. Earlier, MCC released revised NEET UG seat matrix after the National Medical Commission (NMC) took action against many MBBS colleges/universities in India for regulatory non-compliance. A total of 115,900 MBBS seats are now available across 766 medical colleges, comprising central, state, private, and deemed institutions, for Round 1 of NEET UG counselling.

We will observe increased cutoff for colleges and decision dilemmas among students this year.

  • 12.36 lakh students are competing for these seats, based on their NEET UG scores.
  • 15% of seats (All-India Quota) are centrally allotted, while 85% remain under state quota.
  • With over 20.9 lakh NEET aspirants this year, roughly 1 in 10 candidates will secure a medical seat.

Colleges & Seat Distribution

  • The matrix covers 766 colleges, with more than 400 government, 32 private, 13 government society, 44 society-run, and 250 trust-run institutions included.
  • States offering the highest number of seats include Uttar Pradesh, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Maharashtra, and Telangana.

Top Medical University, which has been stripped of MBBS seats, is Hamdard Institute Of Medical Sciences And Research.

NMC Bans Nine Colleges from MCC NEET UG 2025 Counselling

Nine colleges across Andhra Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Delhi, Gujarat, Karnataka, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Telangana, and Uttar Pradesh have been allotted zero seats, rendering them ineligible for admissions this year.

  • In Tamil Nadu, the seat matrix reflects a reduction of 50 seats, with programs like PSP Medical College, Kancheepuram being trimmed from 150 to 100 seats.
