- You must select your preferred medical/dental colleges and courses.
- Arrange your choices in order of preference. There is no limit to the number of choices.
- Once satisfied, lock your choices before the deadline. If you don’t lock them, the system will auto-lock the last saved choices.
Tip: Research college cut-offs and course reputation before filling choices. Locked choices cannot be changed later.
Step 3: Seat Allotment
Once choice-filling ends, MCC will conduct the seat allotment process based on:
- NEET UG 2025 rank
- Category
- Seat availability
- Choices filled
The results of the seat allotment will be published on the MCC website. You can download the seat allotment letter and take a printout for future use.
Step 4: Document Verification
Candidates who receive a seat must report to the allotted college for physical document verification.
Required documents include:
- NEET 2025 Admit Card
- NEET 2025 Scorecard/Rank Letter
- Class 10 and 12 Mark Sheets & Passing Certificates
- ID Proof (Aadhaar/PAN/Passport)
- Category Certificate (if applicable)
- Passport-size photographs
- Provisional allotment letter
Tip: Carry both original documents and photocopies. Failure to produce documents can lead to the cancellation of your seat.
Step 5: Reporting to the Allotted College
After document verification, candidates must confirm their admission by paying the admission fee and completing formalities at the allotted college.
- Report to the college within the given time frame.
- Submit original documents if required.
- Complete biometric verification and other formalities.
- Collect your admission receipt.
Note: If you fail to report, your allotted seat will be cancelled, and you may not be allowed to participate in further rounds.
Step 6: Subsequent Rounds
If seats remain vacant, further rounds of counselling may be conducted. MCC conducts multiple rounds of counselling: Round 1, Round 2, Mop-Up Round, and Stray Vacancy Round.
- If you are not allotted a seat in Round 1, you can participate in Round 2 by fresh choice-filling.
- If you are allotted a seat in Round 1 but wish to upgrade, choose “Willingness for Upgradation” while reporting.
- Mop-Up and Stray Vacancy rounds are for vacant seats after Round 2.
Note: State counselling will be conducted separately by the respective state authorities. Make sure to check state-specific guidelines if you apply there.
Importance of Counselling in NEET
The NEET counselling process plays a crucial role in medical admissions. Scoring well in NEET is just the first step; counselling determines where and what you study. Here’s why it is important:
- Seat Allocation: Counselling is the only official method to get a government or private medical seat through NEET.
- Transparency: It ensures a transparent, merit-based system for allocating seats based on rank, preferences, and reservations.
- Choice and Flexibility: Counselling allows students to explore multiple colleges and courses across India, giving them better options based on their rank.
- Avoiding Admission Scams: Participating in official MCC or State counselling protects candidates from unauthorised or fraudulent admissions.
- Multiple Chances: Through different rounds, students have the opportunity to upgrade or get admission if they miss out in the first round.
In short: Without counselling, even a high NEET score cannot get you admission in a recognised medical college.
The NEET UG 2025 counselling process is your final step toward securing admission in a medical college. Follow each step carefully – from registration to reporting – and stay updated with official notifications from MCC. With proper planning and timely action, you can successfully secure a seat in your dream medical college.
