This training includes working in hospital wards, HDUs, ICUs, and rural health centres to get complete practical experience. After finishing the internship, students can either start practicing in hospitals or go for further studies like MD, MS, DM, DNB, PG Diplomas, fellowships, or NBE programs

MBBS Internship Stipend

Important Dates for MBBS Internship and NEET PG 2025

MBBS Internship Duration

The MBBS internship is a compulsory 12-month program and cannot be shortened under any circumstances. Students must complete the full term in all assigned departments. However, the duration can be extended in specific cases, such as:

• Failing internship assessments
• Lacking the required skills to work as a doctor
• Any unforeseen situation as notified by the government or NMC

MBBS Internship Rules

The National Medical Commission (NMC) has set rules for the Compulsory Rotating Medical Internship (CRMI), which are also followed by the National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences (NBEMS). These rules apply to all MCI-approved hospitals. Key points include:

• Interns are not allowed to issue medical certificates.
