The National Testing Agency (NTA) has reminded all NEET UG 2026 candidates that the window to confirm or update bank account details for their examination fee refund will shut tomorrow, July 7, 2026, at 11:50 PM. Students who have not yet completed this step are being urged to act without delay.
This is being treated as the final opportunity for candidates to secure their NEET UG 2026 refund, as no further extensions are expected after the deadline lapses.
Why the NEET UG 2026 Refund Is Being Issued
The refund process stems from the cancellation of the original NEET UG 2026 examination, which had been scheduled for May 3, 2026. Following the cancellation, NTA conducted a re-examination on June 21, 2026, for roughly 20 lakh candidates, and committed to refunding the fees paid by all registered students for the cancelled attempt.
To ensure the money reaches the right hands, NTA opened a dedicated online portal where candidates could enter or verify their bank account information.
Refund Window Has Been Extended Multiple Times
The refund facility has gone through several deadline extensions since it first opened. It was initially activated on May 22, 2026, with May 27 as the closing date. This was later pushed to June 22, then reopened from June 25 to June 30, and finally extended once more to July 7, 2026.
NTA has now made clear that this latest date is final, and requests received after 11:50 PM on July 7 will not be entertained under any circumstances.
Refunds Have Already Started for Verified Candidates
According to the agency’s latest notification, refunds are already being processed for students who have successfully confirmed their bank details. However, NTA noted that only around 8,29,510 candidates have completed the verification so far, which is why the remaining eligible applicants are being asked to finish the process urgently.
How to Complete the NEET UG 2026 Refund Process
Candidates can follow these steps to submit or confirm their bank details before the window closes:

- Log in using the NEET UG 2026 application number and password
- Click on the refund link visible on the candidate dashboard

- Recheck all entries carefully before submitting
- Download and save the confirmation page for future reference
Important Points Candidates Should Keep in Mind
| Point | Detail |
| Account ownership | The bank account must be in the candidate’s own name, a parent’s name, or a joint account that includes the candidate |
| Accuracy responsibility | NTA has stated that refunds will be processed exactly as per the details submitted, and errors due to incorrect entries will not be NTA’s responsibility |
| Payment source cases | Candidates who paid fees via a cyber café or someone else’s account should coordinate with that person, since refunds are typically routed to the original payment source |
| Security caution | NTA will never contact candidates asking for passwords or OTPs; such calls or messages should be treated as scams |
| Refund timeline | Once details are confirmed, the amount is expected to be credited within about 7 working days |
Important Dates at a Glance
| Event | Date |
| Refund portal first activated | May 22, 2026 |
| Original deadline | May 27, 2026 |
| First extended deadline | June 22, 2026 |
| Reopened window | June 25 – June 30, 2026 |
| Final extended deadline | July 7, 2026, till 11:50 PM |
What Happens If You Miss the Deadline
NTA has been explicit that no further changes or late submissions will be accepted once the window closes tomorrow night. Candidates who fail to confirm or correct their bank details risk delays in receiving their refund, or in some cases, the amount may be credited based on whatever payment information is already on file, which may not always belong to the candidate.
Students still needing to complete this step are advised to log in well before the deadline, since heavy last-minute traffic on the portal could make submission difficult in the final hours.
Help and Support
Candidates facing technical issues while updating their bank details can reach out to the NTA Help Desk at 011-40759000 or 011-69227700, or write to the agency’s official email support for assistance.
With the NEET UG 2026 refund window closing tomorrow, eligible candidates who haven’t yet confirmed their bank information should treat this as their last chance to do so through the official NEET portal.
