The National Testing Agency (NTA) has released an official press statement addressing reports related to alleged irregularities in the NEET UG 2026 examination. The clarification comes after the Rajasthan Special Operations Group (SOG) initiated action in connection with suspected malpractice linked to the medical entrance exam.
According to the statement, the NEET UG 2026 examination held on May 3, 2026, was conducted under a “full security protocol” across all centres in the country. NTA stated that question papers were transported in GPS-tracked vehicles carrying unique watermark identifiers, while AI-assisted CCTV monitoring, biometric verification, and 5G jammers were used to ensure exam integrity.
NTA Says Exam Conducted Under Strict Security
The agency emphasized that the examination process proceeded smoothly nationwide and that the majority of candidates completed the test fairly. NTA also highlighted that the entire examination system was monitored centrally to prevent any unauthorized activity during the exam.
However, the agency acknowledged that it received inputs regarding alleged malpractice on the evening of May 7, four days after the exam. These reports were reportedly escalated to central agencies on May 8 for independent verification and necessary action.
Investigation
NTA clarified that the matter is currently under investigation by law enforcement agencies and that facts will be established through due process. The agency stated it would not speculate on the ongoing inquiry and assured students that any findings requiring further action would be handled transparently according to established procedures.
The statement also mentioned that recent detentions reported in the media are the result of professional and timely work by investigating agencies. NTA added that it is fully cooperating by sharing examination-related data and technical assistance wherever required.
Advise to Students and Parents
Addressing the concerns of students and parents, the agency urged candidates not to panic or lose confidence in the examination system. NTA stated that the integrity of the vast majority of honest aspirants remains unquestioned and advised everyone to allow investigating authorities to complete their work.
The agency further assured that any necessary decisions would be taken in consultation with the Ministry of Education at the appropriate stage.
The agency stated that the exam was conducted under strict security protocols and confirmed that the matter is currently under investigation.
