Midnight Deadline Alert for NEET UG 2026 Candidates

The clock is ticking for NEET UG 2026 aspirants. The National Testing Agency (NTA) is set to shut the provisional answer key challenge portal tonight at 11:50 PM on June 28, 2026 and there is no indication that the window will be extended.

Candidates who sat for the re-examination on June 21, 2026, and believe one or more answers in the provisional key are incorrect, have just hours left to file their objections online at https://neet.nta.nic.in/. Once the portal closes, no challenge or grievance related to the answer key will be entertained under any circumstances.

Why This Deadline Matters More Than Usual

This year, NTA introduced a significant change: the answer key challenge process was launched simultaneously with the publication of provisional keys even before OMR scanning was fully complete. The agency described this as a transparency measure, allowing expert review of challenges to run in parallel with scanning rather than after it.

The direct consequence of this parallel process is that the challenge window is shorter and tighter than candidates may be used to. Missing tonight’s deadline is irreversible. The answer key finalised by the subject matter experts after the challenge period closes will be treated as final, and no further challenge or grievance will be accepted even after results are declared.

How Much Does It Cost to Challenge?

The fee to raise each challenge is Rs. 200 per question. The good news: if a challenge is accepted by the expert panel, the full fee for that question is refunded. However, if a challenge is rejected, the fee is forfeited.

Payment can be made via Debit Card, Credit Card, or Net Banking but must be completed by 11:50 PM tonight.

Key Things to Keep in Mind Before You Submit

  • Challenges must be raised only under your own Question Paper Series Code the code printed on the cover of the Test Booklet you took home from the exam centre on June 21, 2026.
  • If your objection is accepted, the correction is applied uniformly to all four sets of question papers. You do not need to raise the same challenge separately for different series codes.
  • Submission is one-time and final. Once you pay and submit, no additions or modifications are possible.
  • Supporting evidence such as references from NCERT textbooks, standard academic publications with chapter and page citations must be uploaded along with the challenge. Only authentic and verifiable sources are considered.
  • The individual scanned OMR response sheets are not part of this stage. Candidates will be given a separate opportunity to view their OMR sheets once scanning is complete.

What Happens After the Portal Closes?

All submitted challenges will be reviewed by a panel of designated subject matter experts. If a challenge is found to be correct on merit, the provisional answer key for that question will be revised. The revised final answer key will be published on the official website before results are declared but individual decisions on each challenge will not be communicated separately to candidates.

The final answer key will then be used to evaluate all scanned OMR responses, and results will be declared at the earliest once scanning is fully complete.
