NTA Issues Advisory on Biometrics at Exam Centers for NEET UG 2026

The newly introduced biometric identification process had raised concerns among many parents and aspirants, and this article helps address and clarify those worries.

NTA Issues Advisory on Biometrics at Exam Centers for NEET UG 2026: The National Testing Agency (NTA) has released an important public notice regarding biometric verification procedures for candidates appearing in the NEET (UG) 2026 examination. The advisory outlines provisions for students who may face issues during the mandatory biometric verification process on exam day.

As per the notice, the NEET UG 2026 exam is scheduled to be conducted on May 3, 2026. The biometric verification process will take place after frisking and before candidates are allowed entry into the examination hall. This process is compulsory for all candidates to ensure identity verification and maintain exam integrity.

However, the NTA has acknowledged that in some cases, biometric authentication may fail due to reasons such as device malfunction, poor biometric data quality, or connectivity issues with Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI). Additionally, candidates with physical challenges that prevent biometric data capture are also considered under this provision.

In such scenarios, candidates will still be permitted to enter the examination hall. They will, however, be required to submit a written undertaking confirming their identity. The format for this undertaking will be provided at the examination centre itself.

The agency has also emphasized that candidates will not be disturbed during the exam hours between 2:00 PM and 5:00 PM (or up to 6:00 PM for PwD/PwBD candidates), for biometric-related procedures. This ensures that no candidate’s performance is affected due to verification delays or issues.

This advisory comes as a relief for many aspirants, especially those concerned about technical glitches or unforeseen biometric failures. The NTA has reassured candidates that necessary measures are in place to ensure a smooth and fair examination process.

Candidates are advised to stay calm and follow all instructions at their respective exam centres to avoid last-minute stress.

We request all candidates to arrive at their respective centers before time to avoid any last-minute stressful situations.
