IMTU Tanzania

The International Medical and Technological University is a private university in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania. The university is popularly known as IMTU University Tanzania, and it was established in 1995 by the Vignan Educational Foundation (VEF) to promote the spirit of South-South cooperation. The university is top-rated amongst the Indian students to pursue MBBS in Tanzania.

The Government of Tanzania recognized this university through the Tanzania Commission for Universities (TCU) and the charter awarded in 2010 that Tanzania signed.

International Medical and Technological University Tanzania

The International Medical and Technological University (IMTU University), established by the Vignan Educational Foundation (VEF) of Bangalore, India, was Tanzania’s first private medical university. At the invitation of Late Mwalimu Julius K Nyerere, the First President of Tanzania, the VEF moved to Tanzania with its resources to build IMTU.

MBBS Syllabus in Tanzania

Biomedical Basic Science Years

This shall consist of the first 2 Academic Years (Semesters 1-4), during which the student will cover the biomedical basic science subjects comprising:

Clinical training is currently done at IMTU Hospital, Mwananyamala, Temeke and Amana Municipal Hospitals, Muhimbili Orthopedic Institute (MOI), Muhimbili National Hospital (MNH), Ocean Road Cancer Institute (ORCI), Mirembe Hospital, Mnazi Mmoja Health Centre, and some health centres and dispensaries in and around Dar-es-Salaam Region.

Research Projects

The research project shall be for eight weeks. It shall be conducted at the end of semester 8. A supervisor will guide a student to prepare a research proposal, conduct fieldwork and write a research report before proceeding to the final semester (semester 10). The research report is assessed out of 100 (100%).
